In this lesson, we will look at understanding relative clauses. These are very common constructions in English and are used often, so making sure you know how they are formed, what they mean and the difference between a defining and non-defining relative clause is an important part of improving your English.
You probably know the basics – that relative clauses are created by using words like THAT, WHICH and WHO – but in this lesson, we will look at each aspect in detail and learn how to combine information to make longer, more formal sentences. We will look at when you use that (and when you don’t have to use it!), the correct use of ‘whose’ and much more. Being able to create complex sentences using relative clauses really increases your overall ability in English and gets you closer to Level C1 and beyond!
